Console games are great, but sometimes you just can not afford a TV. One option is to move the game console to another room; the other is to stream the game to your computer, laptop, TV, or mobile device.
Do not know that you can do it? Well, you can enjoy streaming games through your home network. It’s all you need to play computer and console games on almost any device at home.
Playing on Home Network
The advantage of streaming games to other devices is that you are not limited to one place and you can get ideas from the TFUE gaming setup. By streaming to your laptop, you can easily play your favorite console games away from your family while sitting around the TV and watching TV shows. This means that you no longer have to disconnect and move the console.
To stream games from one device to another over the network, you have five options:
- Play Steam Games on TV
- Play Steam Games on Android and iOS
- PS4 Game on PC
- PS4 Games on Mobile
- Stream Xbox One Games on Windows
Play Steam Games on TV
What if you wanted to play computer games on TV? Maybe you have a powerful gaming computer and want to enjoy it on a 50 inch TV in the living room.
Maybe you have some friends and you decide to play some games on mainstream TV.
One option is to use a long HDMI cable between the computer in room A and the TV in room B. But it is usually as inconvenient as placing the computer near the TV. Media streaming is the best choice.
If you use Steam to control your computer games, you can use the Steam Streaming Box to stream games over your network. This functionality is built into the Steam client on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Play Steam Games on Android and iOS
You can now transfer your favorite computer games from your Steam library to your Android or iOS device. Steam games can run on any device: mobile phones, tablets, even Android TV or Apple TV.
With the free Steam streaming app, you only need a Bluetooth or USB controller (or keyboard and mouse) to play the game.
Or for best results, use the 5 GHz band on the router. If this is not possible, make sure the computer hosting your Steam library is connected to your router via Ethernet.
PS4 Game on PC
What if you have a PlayStation 4 and want to stream games to your TV in another room? With Sony’s remote playback capabilities, game streaming is once again the answer. It is compatible with Windows 8.1 or later and macOS (with OS X Yosemite or macOS El Capitan).
You need a computer with an Intel Core i5 2.67 GHz or higher processor and at least 2 GB of RAM. Your computer needs an additional USB port to connect to the DualShock 4 controller. Again, this solution requires a fast and reliable connection to the router for both devices, preferably via Ethernet.
This solution also requires the PS4 Remote Play app, which must be downloaded and installed on your computer.
PS4 Games on Mobile
If you want to stream PS4 games to another device, you are not limited to computers. The PS4 Remote Play app for Android and iOS lets you stream your favorite PlayStation 4 games to your phone or tablet.
There is no need to chase the family out of the living room and there is no need to avoid the sun when you want to play. Instead, just use the PS4 Remote Play app, connect your DualShock 4 controller via Bluetooth and enjoy!
Stream Xbox One Games on Windows
Want to play games but can’t find anything near the TV? The solution is to play Xbox One games on Windows 10 PC.
This is thanks to the Xbox Console Companion app in Windows 10, which allows you to transfer any game from your Xbox library to your computer (you’ll need to insert a game disc if needed).
At the same time, there is Xbox Play Anywhere, which lets you play digitally purchased Xbox One games on your computer or Xbox. This ensures uninterrupted playback, which means that when you start playing on another device, the progress is saved on one device.
